Choosing a real estate agent is always a very personal decision.
That said, most people follow the same selection process; they simply ask their friends and family whom they have worked with before. (We know this because most of our clients have been referred to us!)
This reflects the importance of trust in real estate transactions. When you’re looking to buy or sell your home, you want to be sure the person representing you understands the significance — emotional, psychological, financial, and otherwise — of that moment in your life.
But just because a specific agent comes recommended, doesn’t mean that person is the best match for you.
In fact, if that agent works on their own, we think that is a red flag — no matter what!
Here are the two reasons why we strongly recommend working with a top real estate team, rather than an individual agent:
- Connections: The number one reason why top real estate teams are superior to individual agents is the shared network effect. Top teams combine the personal and professional connections of seasoned veterans in the industry. By bringing this talent and experience under one brand, we are able to connect the dots between you and your needs; whether that’s a potential buyer for your listing, a contractor to complete work before you move in, or any other requirement.
- Coverage: Let’s say you start working with a member of a top agent team, but something happens to him or her. Because of the team structure, you would have someone else ready to step in immediately and serve you. On the other hand, if you worked with a non-team member agent, you would be on your own.
Once you find a team, there are many ways to determine whether it is the right one for you. (For our take on the right questions to ask, check out our post on this subject from back in February.)
We wish you the best of luck in finding the right team for you.
And if you’re looking anywhere across the San Francisco Bay Area, we hope you’ll consider us!
